ATLANTA, Ga. (WTOC) - The fight for justice is not over.

That's the message from the family of Ahmaud Arbery, as the three men convicted of killing him are due in court Wednesday in Atlanta.

The three white men are appealing their hate crime convictions for killing Arbery. In February 2020 Arbery, a young black man, was taking a jog through the Satilla Shores community in Glynn County when he was shot and killed.

Father and son, Gregory and Travis McMichael, along with William Bryan were all sentenced to life in prison. Authorities say the McMichaels chased Arbery down in their pick-up truck while Bryan followed recording the murder on his phone.

The three are appealing their federal conviction. Ahmaud's father calls the appeal outrageous.

"With that evidence with those three men I don't see how I'm just being real with you because the evidence on that hate crime they did to my son I don't see how they keep having no appeal," said Marcus Arbery, Ahmaud Arbery's father.

The court hearing will be at the U.S. 11 Circuit Court of Appeals at 9:00 a.m. Wednesday in Atlanta. Along with the Arbery family, the Transformative Justice Coalition, Black Voters Matter, and Georgia NAACP will be there in support of Ahmaud.

They plan to have a rally after the hearing at 10 a.m.
