Tiny worm develops giant eyes, emits UV lights for communication

From the dark comes a newly discovered species with eyes too big for a creature so small, so simple: a worm. The Vanadis bristle worm makes no sense, and they live off the coast of Naples, Italy. As a city, it never made sense.

They belong to a family of invertebrates called polychaetes that "rule the seas." The Vanadis are one species in a field of 10,000 that have survived a whopping 5 mass extinctions. They've adapted to every habitat.
