Researchers at the Tianjin University of Technology in China have developed a new type of battery that runs on oxygen in the body and never runs out of power. A press release noted that such a battery can be implanted into the body for multiple purposes.

With advancements in medical technology, implanting devices inside the body to modulate organ functions has become quite common. Pacemakers help keep the heart rate from falling, while neurostimulators can help dampen chronic pain. All these devices need an external energy source conventionally supplied through small but powerful batteries.
