Roseville, California — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we're working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors. This submission comes from Valerie Brandt who nominated Sophia of Roseville, California. Star local student's name Sophia What grade is your star local student in? 11 How do you know the star local student? She's my granddaughter Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized? For the past two years Sophia, along with other members of her church, have used her spring break to travel to Mexico to help those in need. Last year she helped build staircase and paint a church in great need. This past spring break she helped a family who'd been living in a makeshift home by building a brand new house for them What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student? Sophia is a loving , brilliant girl who has a heart for those in need. Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Sophia!
