New Delhi: The third phase of voting for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections took place today in 93 constituencies spread over 11 states and Union Territories. More than 1,300 candidates, including 120 women, contested in this crucial phase. 62.1% voter turnout was recorded across 11 states and union territories in this phase. The third phase of voting took place in 26 seats in Gujarat, 14 in Karnataka, 11 in Maharashtra, 10 in Uttar Pradesh, 8 in Madhya Pradesh, 7 in Chhattisgarh, 5 in Bihar, 4 in Assam, 4 in West Bengal, 2 in Goa and 2 in Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu. The Lok Sabha elections are being held across seven phases, from April 19 to June 1. The counting is scheduled for June 4. In several cases, the components were replaced as the complete EVM set, while it was changed in parts in most of the cases after snags were detected, a senior official of the Election Department said on condition of anonymity. Several of these glitches were noticed during mock polling, which started 90 minutes before the actual voting, and those machines were replaced accordingly, he added. A voter turnout of 66.87 per cent was recorded till 5 pm in seven out of the 11 Lok Sabha constituencies in Chhattisgarh, where polling was held in the third and last phase of the general elections in the state on Tuesday, a poll official said, reported news agency PTI.
Over 74 per cent of the 81.49 lakh voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm on Tuesday in four Lok Sabha constituencies in the third and final phase of elections in Assam, an official said, reported news agency PTI.
Altogether 73.93 per cent of the 73.37 lakh voters exercised their franchise till 5 pm in four seats of West Bengal in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections on Tuesday, a poll official said, reported news agency PTI.
