A cyclonic circulation lies over northeast Assam in lower tropospheric levels, while another one lies over northeast Bihar and a trough runs from this cyclonic circulation to North Odisha in lower tropospheric levels. Strong southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast India are very likely to prevail at lower tropospheric levels till May 7.

Under their influence, fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by isolated thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) is very likely over Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura during the next 7 days.

Isolated heavy rainfall may drench Arunachal Pradesh on May 10; Assam and Meghalaya from May 7-10; and over Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Gangetic West Bengal on May 7; over Odisha from May 7-9.

Fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and squally winds (50-60 kmph) are also very likely over Gangetic West Bengal from May 7-10. Further, scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) may prevail over East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, Odisha and Chhattisgarh during the next 4-5 days.

Meanwhile, another cyclonic circulation lies over Marathwada and a trough/wind discontinuity runs from Marathawada to south Tamil Nadu in lower tropospheric levels. As a result, isolated heavy rainfall are very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal and South Interior Karnataka on May 7-8; over Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Yanam and Telangana on May 7 and over Kerala-Mahe on May 9-10.

Isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala-Mahe, Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and Telangana during the next 5 days, and over North and South Interior Karnataka on May 7 and 8.

Apart from the existing system in the region, another fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from May 9. Under their influence, scattered to fairly widespread activity accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds (30-40 kmph) are possible over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit, Baltistan and Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand during May 9-12.

Isolated light to moderate rainfall is also very likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and East Rajasthan between May 9 and 11, and isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall activity is possible over Uttar Pradesh from May 7-11. Strong surface winds (25-35 kmph) are very likely to prevail over Uttar Pradesh during the next 5 days.

Lastly, heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Tamil Nadu, Rayalaseema, Telangana, Vidarbha, and Interior Karnataka on May 7; West Rajasthan during May 7-10; East Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh from May 8-10; and Saurashtra until May 10.
