Female pedestrian dies after being struck by vehicle early Saturday

Police are investigating when a pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle outside a convenience store in St. Vital early Saturday morning.

According to Winnipeg Police, the incident happened outside a 7-Eleven near St. Mary's and St. Michael Road at around 12:37 a.m. A woman in her 30s was rushed to hospital in critical condition but died of her injuries.

The intersection, including part of Chesterfield Avenue, was closed to traffic for more than nine hours as investigators were on scene.

The investigation is continuing, police said.
