UPDATE (11:30 a.m.): Vernon-North Okanagan RCMP identified the cyclist as a 66-year-old Kamloops man. Police's investigation determined he was travelling southbound on Highway 97 when it rear ended a pickup truck that was stopped waiting to make a turn off the highway. EARLIER: WESTWOLD, B.C. — One person was killed in a collision on Highway 97 in Westwold Sunday (May 5) morning. Cpl. Melissa Jongema with BC Highway Patrol told CFJC Today that RCMP were told of a two-vehicle collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle just after 10:00 a.m. Sunday where the motorcyclist passed away. "Although it's early in the investigation, it's been discovered that the motorcyclist rear-ended the pickup truck," Jongema says.
