Bystander Struck In Downtown Shooting

Hamilton Police are investigating a morning shooting in downtown Hamilton.

On Monday, May 6, 2024, shortly before 11:15 a.m., multiple gunshots were overheard by witnesses from an alleyway in the area of King Street East and East Avenue North.

An innocent bystander was in the area at the time of the shooting and was grazed by one of the stray bullets. The victim, an adult male in his 50's was transported to hospital and treated for non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from hospital.

A grey coloured sedan, similar to a 4-door BMW , was seen fleeing the area of the shooting. The last known direction of travel is believed to be eastbound on King William Street from the are of Victoria Avenue North. 

The scene has since been processed by Hamilton Police Forensics and released at approximately 1:30 p.m. this afternoon.
