Synagogue member charged with arson following fire at place of worship in North York

A man is facing charges after a case of arson at a North York synagogue.

Toronto police were called about a fire near Bathurst Street and Wilson Avenue around 9:50 a.m. Thursday.

Officers say a man went to the synagogue, used his key to get inside and set a fire before fleeing.

Police say the man is actually a synagogue member.

Avrom Babrowsky, 67, of Toronto was arrested Friday and charged with arson- disregard for human life.
