Three teenagers allegedly responsible for multiple break-and-enters across Townsville this week had just been released from the city's Cleveland Youth Detention Centre on Thursday, sources have told 9News.

The gang reportedly targeted six Townsville suburbs in the early hours of Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, carrying out multiple home invasions.

During one alleged home invasion, a teenage boy was confronted by homeowner Michael McMillan, who chased him out.

"There's no fear in their eyes. Only because I can yell loud and came out of the darkness, they bolted," he told 9News.

"Knowing what I know about them being recidivist offenders, being let out very recently back straight to it, it's very concerning and obviously my wife is fearful when I'm not home."

Police suspect the teenagers are responsible for stealing multiple cars including a BMW and ute from another local, Collette Wasson.

"The police had their helicopter up yesterday afternoon. They were tracking them and travelling in convoy with other cars," Wasson told 9News.

All three teenagers are on the run.

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them immediately.
