Two brothers have been arrested in NSW after Victoria Police undertook a manhunt for them over a fatal stabbing in Melbourne's south-east on Sunday.

The brothers were arrested in Goulburn in the state's Southern Tablelands region this morning with the assistance of NSW Police.

They are expected to face Goulburn Local Court tomorrow, where investigators will apply to extradite them back to Victoria.

Police and emergency crews were called to a North Road address in the suburb of Ormond on March 5. (Nine)

Victoria Police yesterday released the identities of the brothers after one man was killed and one man was injured during a stabbing on North Road in Ormond in Melbourne's south-east about 1am on Sunday.

Police called for the public's help to track them down.

Homicide Squad Detective Inspector Dean Thomas said the men police were searching for had fled the scene following a violent dispute.

A 22-year-old Noble Park man suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene, while a 30-year-old Noble Park was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Thomas said a group of men, including the suspects, were drinking alcohol outside the property before the stabbing.

He said tensions reached boiling point when some occupants of the home wanted to move out.

"What investigators have gathered so far is that late afternoon to early evening on Saturday, there was party or gathering of four men, including the two suspects," he said.

"Throughout the evening there was an altercation that occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning between the two suspects and the two victims, resulting with the victims being stabbed, one fatally."
