A man who was allegedly stalking, harassing and intimidating more than a dozen walkers along a popular trail in Adelaide's north east has been released on bail after being arrested.

9News released a video of the alleged predator on Linear Park Trail in Highbury three days ago, which prompted a dozen women to come forward with similar alleged experiences.

Police arrested a 20-year-old Paradise man and charged him with disorderly behaviour.

One Athelstone resident said he was walking with his wife when the man allegedly jumped out in front of them and gave him the rude finger about 18 months ago.

His wife said she was scared because he allegedly lunged at her.

She said she didn't feel safe and wouldn't go for a walk without her husband until she knew the alleged predator was behind bars.

9News is aware of more than 12 women who have allegedly been targeted over the past six months.

Police Commissioner Grant Stevens said the bail act was quite specific in relation to the presumption that people should be given bail unless extenuating circumstances exist.

"I would encourage people to go about their lives normally but if you see any suspicious behaviour, please make contact with police so we can investigate immediately," Stevens said.
