Experts have met in Canberra for a national roundtable on the domestic violence crisis

A 34-year-old lawyer in Perth, a 21-year-old teacher in Sydney, an 85-year-old woman in Adelaide, a young social worker in the Northern Territory - these are just some of the women murdered by their partners or ex partners in the past few years - some generated headlines, some did not.

But the question remains - how do we make Australian women safe? Laura Tingle begins with the talks convened by the domestic violence commissioner in Canberra today.
