Virgin Media broadcaster Zara King celebrated her bridal shower this weekend with some of her closest friends and family.

The journalist announced her engagement last September after a year of dating her partner, whose identity she has chosen to keep private.

The couple are planning to tie the knot this summer in Cork, but before she walks down the aisle, Zara made sure to throw a bash with all her girlfriends, including fellow Virgin Media presenter Muireann O'Connell.

She posted a sweet photo on Instagram with her three bridesmaids, who all wore matching pink pyjama sets while the woman of the hour donned a veil for the occasion.

Captioning the post, Zara wrote: "#BridalShower Weekend #Bridesmaid," adding a series of wedding-themed emojis.

Ireland AM host Muireann also shared some snaps from the fun weekend, including a picture of a pink and purple balloon display reading 'Zara's bridal shower'.

Friends and followers flocked to the comments section to send their well wishes to the bride-to-be, including fellow Virgin Media star Katja Mia, who wrote: "Beautiful!! Enjoy the weekend".

Miriam O'Callaghan said: "I love this. Have an amazing time Zara".

Another person added: "Beautiful and the very best of luck to you both Zara."

And someone else chimed in: "Awww gorgeous. Have the loveliest weekend Zara and squad".

Zara recently revealed that her wedding would be taking place in West Cork this summer, telling Evoke.ie: "We're getting married this summer, we still have loads to organise but I'm loving it.

"I underestimated how much work it is to plan a wedding. I didn't really want to drag organising something out over two years.

"I don't think I have the time or the concentration to do it over two years, but then it's funny because you ring people to book things, and they are like 'most people have that booked from two years ago'."
