The Canucks had the first chance to finish the series in Game 6, but the Oilers were not about to be eliminated on home ice. They controlled the play from the get-go, limiting Vancouver to just 15 shots on Saturday night. Evan Bouchard and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins each had a goal and two assists, while captain Connor McDavid had three assists in a 5-1 win.

This sets up an interesting battle in Vancouver, where the Canucks have won two of the first three games of this series, but are just 3-3 so far in these playoffs. The Oilers are 3-2 on the road this postseason. Vancouver certainly played with nerves with the chance to clinch the series on Saturday, and they have to be weary of doing that in front of the home fans.

The Canucks, trying to advance to the conference finals for the first time since last making it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2011, are 6-6 in Game 7s, last losing to the Golden Knights in the second round in 2020. The Oilers can make it to the final four for the second time in three seasons with a win on Monday. Edmonton is 7-4 in series that go the distance, beating the Los Angeles Kings in the opening round in 2022.

If the Canucks were to win on Monday night, it might be some good fortune heading their way. The last two teams to eliminate the Oilers in the playoffs--the Colorado Avalanche (2022) and Vegas Golden Knights (2023)--have gone on to win the Stanley Cup.
