According to the CDC, COVID-19 cases are likely growing in at least 12 states, including Nevada.

ThisĀ is based on emergency room visits, analyzed by the CDC.

However, cases around the country as a whole remain low.

An average of 0.3 percent of ER patients through May 10 were diagnosed with COVID-19. This is compared to an average of three percent as of last August.

Cases reported in nursing homes remain low as well.

Preliminary data from the CDC's wastewater surveillance also estimates that the virus remains minimal nationwide, although levels seem to be trending up in the West of the US.

The dominant strains of the virus are KP.2 and KP.1.1.

"Based on current data there are no indicators that KP.2 would cause more severe illness than other strains. CDC will continue to monitor community transmission of the virus and how vaccines perform against this strain," said a CDC spokesperson.
