Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Swati Maliwal filed a police complaint against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's aide Bibhav Kumar on Thursday, accusing him of physically assaulting her. The MP alleged that she was physically assaulted, hit multiple times, even on "sensitive body parts", police sources said.

The complaint, which detailed the assault, stated Kumar slapped, kicked her, beat her with a stick, and hit her in the stomach, sources added.

The 39-year-old Rajya Sabha MP claimed that she pleaded with Kumar to leave her when he assaulted her on Monday at the Chief Minister's residence. Then she came out and called the police, according to her statement.

Maliwal alleged on Monday that Kumar assaulted her and AAP had confirmed the charges later. However, no formal complaint was filed then.

Today, following her complaint, the Delhi Police registered an FIR against Kumar on charges of outraging the modesty of a woman, criminal intimidation, words and gestures or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman, and voluntarily causing hurt.

A police team, led by an Additional Commissioner of Police (ACP) rank officer visited Maliwal's residence to record her statement. The probe team spent nearly four hours seeking details from the Rajya Sabha MP.

Later, she took to social media and said she hopes "appropriate action will be taken" in the matter.

"What happened to me was very bad. I have given my statement to the police on the incident that happened to me. I hope that appropriate action will be taken," she wrote on X.

"The last few days have been very difficult for me. I thank those who prayed for me. Those who tried to do character assassination, said that she was doing it on the instructions of the other party, may God keep them happy too," Maliwal said.
