Horse races occur rain or shine. Baseball games don't.

The start of the Orioles' game against the Seattle Mariners on Saturday, scheduled for 4:05 p.m., was delayed because of the potential for inclement weather. The game will begin at 7 p.m. after a nearly three-hour rain delay. Fans who left Camden Yards are allowed to reenter, the Orioles said.

The rainy weather in Baltimore this weekend caused a delay that was expected to be short. It did not rain for much of the delay, but different rain showers prevented the game from beginning. The delay is the second-longest at Camden Yards this season after the five-hour one in April versus the Kansas City Royals.

The delay comes days after Tuesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays was postponed to create a traditional doubleheader on Monday, July 29.

During the game, the team announced that all fans with tickets to Saturday's contest would receive vouchers for another Monday through Thursday game in 2024.

Baltimore (28-14) defeated Seattle (24-21) in Friday night's series opener behind a five-run first inning to give left-hander John Means his first win at Camden Yards since April 2021. The victory extended the Orioles' American League-best sweepless streak to 106 regular-season series, moving Baltimore into third place on MLB's all-time list.

Right-hander Grayson Rodriguez came off the 15-day injured list Saturday morning to start the game with right-hander Luis Castillo going for the Mariners. Orioles ace Corbin Burnes is scheduled to pitch Sunday opposite right-hander George Kirby. Baltimore begins a seven-game road trip in St. Louis and Chicago next week.

Saturday's lineup features Austin Hays' first start back off the IL and slumping Cedric Mullins next to him in center field. Here's Baltimore's lineup:

  1. Gunnar Henderson, SS
  2. Adley Rutschman, C
  3. Ryan O'Hearn, 1B
  4. Anthony Santander, DH
  5. Jordan Westburg, 3B
  6. Colton Cowser, RF
  7. Austin Hays, LF
  8. Cedric Mullins, CF
  9. Jorge Mateo, 2B
