Gregory Gallant, pen name 'Seth', is an influential artist in the underground comic book scene, and creates his works in Guelph, ON. Gallant is best known for his award-winning graphic novel 'Clyde Fans': a story of two brothers and their battle to keep their air-conditioning business alive. Gallant said that he was happy to see that graphic novels have grown from what he called a compilation of 'cultural garbage' into the spotlight today. "It's been a tremendous change to see graphic novels and comics move into the mainstream in a remarkably accepted way," said Gallant. "Certainly, when I started out, I was not thinking that any of us would end up on a postage stamp." The new stamps also feature art from other Canadian graphic artists like Chester Brown, Jillian and Mariko Tamaki, and Michel Rabagliati.
