Britain's Got Talent fans fume over 'rule break' as 'pure talent' act overlooked

Britain's Got Talent fans were left annoyed after Bruno Tonioli used his golden buzzer for a second time this series, while overlooking a 'pure talent' act.

The ITV talent show returned on Saturday night with another handful of hopefuls taking to the famous stage to try and win over judges Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Bruno.

An emotional Bruno leapt forward to slam the golden buzzer for dance troupe the Phoenix Boys, after the youngsters, all aged between eight and 19, dazzled the crowd with their backflips and pirouettes. The judge and fellow dancer slammed down on the buzzer so hard that he broke it, cracking it down the middle.

Bruno joined the dancers on stage as they rushed to hug him and Bruno explained his decision. He said: "People don't really know how hard it is to succeed as a dancer. The work that goes into it and the passion and literally you do it for nothing, you do it for love and I felt that."

The other judges looked surprise to see Bruno award his second golden buzzer of the series after giving one to Taryn Charles in a previous episode. It comes after Amanda did the same thing in last week's episode, awarding her second golden buzzer to an act from Japan who uses his hair to do impressions.

But it seems fans aren't keen on the addition of extra golden buzzers and many took to X, formerly Twitter, to complain that Bruno had 'broken the rules' by pressing it for a second time.

"Golden Buzzers just unlimited now, yeah?" one viewer asked, while another said: "Haven't they used all there golden buzzers!?? Bruno really doesn't care about the rules does he."

A third commented: "It was only a matter of time before Bruno used his golden buzzer again." A fourth added: "Now Bruno is breaking the golden buzzer rules (like Amanda did last Sunday) i.e one act only! and not only that he's broken the actual buzzer!"

Fans seemed angry over the move suggesting it made the golden buzzer "worthless". One fumed: "Getting ridiculous now. How many f***ing golden buzzer acts are there this year?" Another wrote: "What are they trying to prove with more than 5 Golden Buzzers, it just dilutes everything. Think the words 'don't fix what isn't broken'."

Another fan suggested it made the show seem "so staged and fake". Another said: Sorry but 'no'. Bruno hits the golden buzzer as often as I blink, making it worthless. C'mon @BGT - let's make the Golden Buzzer special again."

While the dance troupe were elated to be sent straight through to the final, one act that took to the stage towards the end of the episode missed out on getting a golden buzzer, leaving fans disappointed.

The Messoudi Brothers set pulses racing as they stripped down to their underwear while showing off their impressive juggling skills and then getting completely redressed without dropping any of their clubs. The performance amazed viewers at home, with many declaring that the 'pure talent' act deserved to get the golden buzzer.

"See these are the sorta acts that deserve a Golden Buzzer in my opinion… just pure talent… but alas," one viewer wrote. Another said: "Stuff like that deserves the golden buzzer because that is talent! Not that silly hair style guy last week."

A third commented: "Best talent of the entire series so far and yet these guys haven't got a Golden Buzzer?", while a fourth simply stated: "They deserve a golden buzzer!"
