Mariners Game #46: 5/18/24, SEA at BAL

Original source (on modern site) | Article images: [1]

Last night's drubbing was a rough start to what may well be the most daunting road trip of the season for the Seattle Mariners. Still, Bryce Miller locking in after a grisly first inning afforded the M's bullpen a chance to avoid extreme overextension. That means Luis Castillo has some backing as he takes on the Baltimore Orioles' daunting lineup of four first round picks (and five in the top-50). He'll face off against another top pick, RHP Grayson Rodriguez, who returns from the IL today to build on what's been a solid sophomore campaign for a man who was the top pitching prospect in baseball when he graduated from eligibility.

Unfortunately, while Camden Yards is rightfully treated as one of the jewels of the modern stadium design movement, the Orioles organization did not see fit to protect their treasure, nor respect the time or schedules of their plans or players, nor those of others. As a result, roofless Baltimore (which receives nearly six inches more rain per year than Seattle) will not start today's game on time due to a weather delay.

The start of today's game will be delayed due to the threat of inclement weather. We will update with more information as it becomes available.

Lineups:

Jorge Polanco remains out of the lineup, healing from his hamstring tweak. The lefty-heavy lineup gives Mitch Haniger a day off.
