Weather Alert: severe storm concern continues to climb

Original source (on modern site)

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Meteorologist Jake Dunne says it is a warm and quiet Sunday morning across Kansas, but conditions will not stay that way as storms roll across the state this afternoon and evening. Before that happens, expect a warm to hot afternoon with highs in the upper 80s.

Expect storms to get started along a Hays to Dodge City line after 3 p.m. and then march east arriving along the I-135 corridor between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. The strongest storms will be capable of producing golf ball size hail and destructive wind gusts up to 80 mph.

As a frontal boundary starts to move south across the state late Monday into Tuesday, additional strong to severe storms are possible, mainly over northern Kansas.

On the side of the front is a much cooler air mass. Expect cooler nights in the 40s and 50s followed by delightful days in the 70s for the remainder of the week.
