A cyclist has been seriously hurt in a crash in Jersey, police have said.

States of Jersey Police said it happened on St Saviour's Hill in St Saviour at 00:45 BST on Saturday.

The force said the cyclist was wearing dark-coloured shorts, white trainers and an orange long-sleeved jumper at the time and was being treated in hospital.

A government spokesperson later confirmed the cyclist was a man aged 31 and was taken to Southampton for hospital treatment following the single-vehicle incident.

"He remains in a stable, but critical condition," the spokesperson said.

Anyone with information about the crash, including dashcam footage, has been asked to contact police or Crimestoppers.
